The Pros Outweigh the Cons

There are just too many excuses why we don’t exercise. “I’m tired.” “I don’t feel like doing it.“ What about why we should exercise?

Exercise helps us to get and stay fit. It’s good for our hearts, lungs, and circulatory system.

Exercise results in increased energy levels. That will enable you to do more activities without becoming tired or short of breath.  An increased endurance, and lower blood pressure  wouldn’t hurt.

Of course when regular exercise is done there is improvement in muscle tone and strength. Improvements in balance and joint flexibility, strengthened bones, and reduction in body fat will help you reach a healthy weight and maintain it, help reduce stress, tension, anxiety, and depression, and improve sleep.

Simple Fitness Solutions mentions that aerobic exercise increases insulin sensitivity. Combined with proper nutrition this helps restore normal glucose metabolism by decreasing body fat.

Believe it or not, according to arthritis.org, exercise reduces joint pain and stiffness, builds strong muscle around the joints, increases flexibility and endurance. It reduces inflammation from arthritis and related conditions and reduces the risk of other chronic conditions.

According to Overcoming Depression, exercise releases endorphins. These are our bodies natural pain-killers and can provide relief from some of the aches & pains that accompany depression, as well as enhancing our mood.

Wow! The list goes on and on. In my opinion, the list of why we should exercise far outweighs any  list of why you may not want to exercise,. You decide.

  1. I’ll tell you what, i went on that cruise and I was all hot and shit and then it killed my routine which killed everything and I gained ten pounds. I’m super pissed and am THRILLED both kids are officially in school. I worked my ass off (hopefully) today.

I take a day off once a week, but my workout is one of the most important things I do all day. I might hate those last push-ups as I am doing them, but I feel like a million bucks after I am all done!

@Julie, vacations can kill a diet/exercise routine. Cruises are the worst-there’s always a buffet around somewhere at any given time. Plus they’re so relaxing. They usually have killer gyms, and workout classes. Guss that y’all will just have to go on another cruise to focus more on those aspects. :)

@Jean, The day off once a week is key. We actually take a week off every 12 weeks as well. You’re right, sometimes I hate it when I’m doing the workout, but once I’m done, I feel invincible.
